Onward State Presents: Best ‘State College Bands & DJs’ Bracket: First Round

We sleep in May.

As the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament gets rolling today, March Madness is here for the next three weeks, and all is well in the world.

With no Nittany Lions to root for in this year’s tournament, we decided to make a bracket of our own. We present you with the “Best State College Bands and DJs” bracket, folks.

Some of our staffers brainstormed Happy Valley’s favorite bands and DJs and seeded them to create a four-region, 32-team bracket. From local favorites Anchor&Arrow and Lowjack to electric DJs like DJ Yemi and DJ Dosk, our bracket considers all of State College’s best.

To help your favorite band or DJ claim the title of Onward State’s “Best Band or DJ,” fill out your bracket here. Vote in the opening round until 5 p.m. on Monday, March 25.

You can check out all four regions and the Google Form to vote below.

Blue & White Region

The Blue & White Region is headlined by My Hero Zero but don’t count out dark horses Anchor&Arrow and JR Mangan Band.

Dear Old State Region

It’s Go Go Gadjet…not Go Go Retro (RIP). Adam and the Armadillos secured the top seed in the Dear Old State Region and are anchored by fiddlin’ tunes from Caledonia and folky vibes from Biscuit Jam.

Nittany Lion Region

Are you a Dollar Vodka Soda Night fanatic? We can probably hear DJ Yemi ad-libbing for your vote from here. Lowjack and Ted and the Hi-Fis locked down the two and three seeds in the funky Nittany Lion region full of eccentric tunes.

We Are Region

Finally, in the We Are Region, heavy favorite Piano Fight Club will battle the Corner Brothers, Donny Burns and the 3rd Degree, and other beloved bands for a shot to make it out of the region.

Happy voting!
