Penn State Softball Pitcher Bridget Nemeth Named D1Softball National Freshman Of The Week

Penn State softball pitcher Bridget Nemeth received Freshman of the Week honors from D1Softball on Tuesday morning.

D1Softball is a major collegiate softball outlet that shines a spotlight on standout performances from student-athletes all over the country each week.

Nemeth went 3-0 this past weekend to open Big Ten conference play, compiling a 1.31 ERA along with eight strikeouts across 16.0 total innings in Penn State’s sweep over Indiana. Additionally, Nemeth was the only pitcher in the conference to win all three outings she appeared in this weekend.

This season, Nemeth has been one of the best pitchers in the country to take the circle, boasting a 13-0 record and a 1.09 season-long ERA that ranks 21st in the nation.

The talented first-year pitcher from Glendora, California, is already being recognized for her flashy start in Happy Valley, collecting three weekly accolades and two Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors.

Nemeth and the Nittany Lions return to non-conference action as they host the Bucknell Bison at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, at Beard Field.
