[Photo Story] A Look Inside Old Main’s Bell Tower

On Wednesday, as part of the Blue and White Society’s annual PS i(heart) U week, Penn State Lion Ambassadors hosted an open house event in which folks had the opportunity to tour the inside of Old Main and get a bird’s eye view of the campus at the top of its bell tower.

We sent some of our staff to check it out and capture Old Main in all its glory — inside and out.

Right when you walk through the front doors of Old Main, you’re immediately greeted by many class gifts, including frescoes, statues of past university presidents Evan Pugh and George Atherton, and a mural featuring Abraham Lincoln.

On the second floor, portraits of past Penn State administration and board members can be found before heading up the stairwell to the bell tower.

The inside of the bell tower might look a bit creepy at first glance, but it’s actually aesthetically pleasing.

Dear Old State, we wish we could stay up here for hours.

Look at this view, folks. Nothing beats people-watching from a few stories up.

The view from the Old Main Bell Tower never misses.
