[Photo Story] SASA’s 2024 Holi Celebration

On Saturday, the South Asian Student Association (SASA) held an event to celebrate the Hindu festival of colors, Holi. The festival celebrates the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil.

In an energetic event held on the HUB Lawn, people from all backgrounds came together to partake in the festivities with music, snacks, and, of course, bright colors.

Vibes were high throughout the entirety of the event, which ran from noon to 5 p.m., with folks bringing (or making) huge groups of friends.

There was a massive water slide off to the side of the HUB Lawn, which was very popular and attracted long lines from students.

Halfway through the event, those around paused to enjoy an energetic dance performance by Sher Bhangra, a club on campus that specializes in the Bhangra dance style, which originated in the Punjab region of India.

Near the end of the event, partakers began flinging handfuls of color into the sky to create massive colored clouds.

The festivities weren’t just limited to the humans either, and a gorgeous golden retriever made an appearance that garnered a lot of attention!

The festivities continued into the evening, wrapping up with the final few friend groups finishing up the leftover color.
