Jax Bar & Kitchen Closes In State College, Space To Be Renovated & Rebranded

Jax Bar and Kitchen has closed at 127 E. Calder Way in downtown State College and the space will be purchased by Chris Rosengrant and Mike Fullington, Rosengrant confirmed to Onward State on Thursday.

Jax opened in 2018, replacing the Darkhorse Tavern. It was known for its sports trivia and sex trivia night, complete with corresponding drinks. It also offered specials like “Wine Wednesday,” “Fireball Friday,” and more.

Rosengrant is the owner of the Lion’s Den, which sits at 118 S. Garner St. in State College. Rosengrant confirmed that the Den will not be moving to the Jax location. Rather, he and Fullington will create a new bar.

“It’ll be a really cool addition to State College,” Rosengrant said.

Rosengrant added the Jax location will be renovated and rebranded. The bar that will take over the space does not have a brand at this point, though updates are expected closer to June.
