Former Penn State Hoops Player & Coach Talor Battle Hired As Assistant Coach At Ohio State

Penn State men’s basketball all-time leading scorer Taylor Battle has been hired as an assistant coach at Ohio State, the Buckeyes announced Monday.

Battle was a player for the Nittany Lions for his entire collegiate career, from 2007-2011. Battle was an integral piece of the Penn State team that won the NIT in 2009.

In his senior year, 2010-11, Battle became the all-time leading scorer for the Nittany Lions. This season was also the first time that Penn State secured a bid for March Madness since 2001 and was the last time the Nittany Lions would make an appearance in the NCAA Tournament until 2023.

Following his collegiate career, Battle went undrafted in the NBA and played for seven different teams in various nations around Europe. In 2020, he returned to Happy Valley to serve as an assistant coach for Penn State.

He departed State College once again following one season to join Northwestern as an assistant coach. He stayed as an assistant coach at Northwestern for the last three seasons, from 2021-2024.
