Former Four-Star Penn State Football Linebacker Commit DJ McClary Flips To Rutgers

Class of 2025 four-star linebacker commit DJ McClary flipped his commitment to Rutgers, he announced Sunday. McClary’s flip comes two days after former four-star running back commit Alvin Henderson flipped to Auburn.

McClary, a New Jersey native, originally committed to Penn State last September before deciding to join the Big Ten foe.

McClary was the No. 25 linebacker in the country and the No. 4 player in New Jersey, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. McClary was also one of the top-rated players in Penn State’s 2025 recruitment class.

McClary originally chose the Nittany Lions over the likes of Rutgers, Oregon, Michigan, and Ohio State but decided to decommit nine months later. Prior to McClary’s flip, the Nittany Lions had the 10th-best class in the nation.
