PennDOT Announces Construction On University Drive Bridge

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will begin preservation work on the University Drive bridge running over College Avenue, the organization announced Tuesday. The bridge, which is a key artery to Penn State’s campus, will be closed beginning Monday, July 8.

Work will close traffic on the bridge and PennDOT will utilize a detour using East College Avenue, Porter Road, and East Park Avenue for approximately two miles.

Construction on the bridge will begin the week of Arts Fest, which is set to run from Wednesday, July 10, to Sunday, July 14. PennDOT wrote that construction should end by mid-August, just before move-in weekend for Penn State students, though all construction is weather-dependent.
