Report: Mitchell Tinsley Signing With Washington Commanders’ Practice Squad

Former Penn State football wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley is signing with the Washington Commanders’ practice squad, according to The Athletic’s Ben Standig. Tinsley did not make Washington’s 53-man roster and was released by the team yesterday.

Tinsley was signed by Washington as an undrafted free agent following the 2023 NFL Draft. He didn’t appear in any games last season, but he had six catches for 45 yards in the 2024 preseason.

Tinsley began his college career at Hutchinson Community College, where he spent two seasons before transferring to Western Kentucky. Between 2020-21, Tinsley caught 100 passes for 1,779 yards and 18 touchdowns for the Hilltoppers.

After transferring to Penn State for his final season of eligibility, Tinsley settled in as a starter for the Nittany Lions. In his 13 appearances, Tinsley caught 51 passes for 577 yards and five touchdowns, which includes 49 yards and a touchdown in the Rose Bowl. Tinsley also recorded a catch in 39 consecutive games.
