Onward State will be in the Media Center of the Willard Building today, Wednesday, September 4, from 1-4 p.m., talking about what we do and about our recruitment process. A handful of editors will be there to recruit potential staffers in between raids of the college’s ice cream supply.

If you have any questions about Onward State, no matter what it is, don’t hesitate to swing by! Whether you’re hoping to join our staff and want to ask about what you’re looking for, or you’re just hoping to get to know Penn State’s best student-run news outlet, we’ll answer all your questions.

For folks interested in joining Onward State, our fall 2024 application closes at noon on Sunday, September 15. We’re eager to find the next generation of Penn State writers, photographers, graphic designers, podcasters, and more. You don’t have to be in the College of Communications to join Onward State, either. While we have impressive alumni who have gone on to work at the likes of the Wall Street Journal, The Athletic, Bleacher Report, and more, we have plenty of alumni who just wanted to tell the Penn State story while in college.

If you write for Onward State, people will see it. Our website consistently gets hundreds of thousands of views each week, and there are countless Penn Staters who are excited to read Onward State every day. We are, in short, Penn State’s blog. We cover everything at Penn State from athletics to news, politics, crime, and so much more.
