Yallah Taco Owner Opens ‘ShokuPan’ Food Truck Downtown

The downtown State College restaurant scene just got better, folks.

A new Japanese-inspired food truck, ShokuPan, located at 317 E. Calder Way, recently set up shop behind Yallah Taco and opened this past weekend.

The new food truck offers a wide variety of egg shokupan sandwiches served on Japanese milk bread, as well as food truck classics like fries, tater tots, and breakfast options. In front of the food truck lies picnic tables where customers can enjoy Japanese cuisine.

Yallah Taco owner Hitham Hiyajneh opened the mobile restaurant in hopes of bringing new, different food options to Happy Valley. Hiyajneh, along with ShokuPan manager Polo Valeez, plans to extend their menu offerings and hours of operation once the food truck is more established.

“This is my first time working a food truck,” Valeez said. “We’re trying to make Japanese sandwiches and burgers available here… Eventually, we’re going to add Japanese soufflĂ© pancakes and open later on the weekends, especially gamedays.”

The food truck is open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Folks can find the menu and order online here.
