Penn State University Park Delays March 3 Classes Until 10 A.M.

Penn State will delay the start of classes and campus operations until 10 a.m. on March 3 due to expected winter weather.

All in‑person classes, work shifts, and university activities scheduled between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. are canceled. Essential employees are still required to report as directed by their supervisors.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 3, warning that overnight rain is expected to transition into freezing rain and ice across much of central Pennsylvania. Forecasters say slick and hazardous road conditions are likely during the Tuesday morning commute, and drivers should plan for extra travel time and reduced visibility as temperatures drop.

Faculty may choose to offer asynchronous alternatives, and web‑based classes will continue as scheduled.

Students can view the full university alert and additional details through Penn State’s official channels. For ongoing updates throughout the day, students are encouraged to sign up for PSUAlert notifications.
