James Franklin Calls For ‘White Out Energy’ Against Illinois

Penn State’s 2024 White Out is still nearly two months away. Apparently, James Franklin is getting anxious now.

After Penn State football took down Kent State 56-0 on Saturday, it only took a few minutes for Franklin to start looking ahead to the Nittany Lions’ next matchup against Illinois. With Penn State ranked No. 10, Illinois ranked No. 24, and both teams coming off wins, Franklin called for “White Out energy” against the Fighting Illini.

“I’m calling for White Out [very dramatic pause] energy,” Franklin said. “That’s going to be big next week. We need this place rocking.”

Illinois is having a solid start to its season, staying 4-0 after taking down No. 22 Nebraska on the road on Friday night. Last year, the Nittany Lions beat the Fighting Illini 30-13 on the road.

Penn State is set to play Illinois at 7 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. The game doesn’t have an announced broadcaster yet.

Penn State’s actual White Out isn’t until November 9, when Washington comes to town. However, with the Huskies struggling to match their success from last season, and Illinois putting together strong performances, Saturday’s game could prove more crucial to Penn State’s College Football Playoff push.
