Malick Daouda Earns Big Ten Men’s Soccer Freshman Of The Week

Penn State men’s soccer midfielder Malick Daouda was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week after netting the winning goal for the Nittany Lions on Friday against Michigan State.

The goal was Daouda’s first of the season. He dinked the ball into the bottom right corner off of a free kick in the 87th minute, earning Penn State its first Big Ten win this season, which ended a three-game skid by the Nittany Lions. Daouda became the first Penn Stater to claim an individual conference award this season.

Daouda and the Nittany Lions will begin a two-game road trip to St. John’s at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, and Maryland on Tuesday, October 1. Penn State sits at 3-5-0 overall and 1-2-0 in Big Ten play.
