Stephen Nedoroscik Survives Week Two Of ‘Dancing With The Stars’ With Third-Place Finish

Another Tuesday, another night of pommel horse guy on TV.

Stephen Nedoroscik and partner Rylee Arnold returned for night two of “Dancing with the Stars” to dance a paso doble to John Williams’ theme from Superman.

Nedoroscik earned many calls of resemblance to Superman from his time in the Olympics as he donned glasses like Clark Kent before taking them off to get serious and finish the job — just like the popular superhero.

“Out of the Olympics, everyone said I was a Clark Kent,” Nedoroscik said. “I was sitting there meditating, I took my glasses off, killed it, and came home with bronze. And people started calling me Superman. I never would have been here if it weren’t for that meme, so I’m really excited for Superman.”

The duo, fittingly dubbed Arnold-Pommel, finished third last week after dancing a jive, totaling 21 points out of 30.

“Last week, Stephen did a jive, which was upbeat and happy. Paso doble is a complete switch. He has to be intense, bold, and strong,” Arnold said.

The gymnast said the dance moves are unnatural for his body, but he has a competitive mindset so the pressure will help him get pumped to head back out on the dance floor.

Nedoroscik entered the stage for “Oscars Night” in a true Clark Kent fit with the suit, jacket, and glasses all in tow. Smoke filled up the stage as the music began and he reappeared in a sparkly red United States-themed outfit, throwing the glasses aside as he became pommel horse guy Superman while kissing his biceps and strutting out to meet Arnold.

Nedoroscik leaped, spun, and paraded across the dancefloor with Arnold. He did a spinning leap, reminiscent of his pommel horse routine, before he spun his partner across the ground and knee-walked across the floor back to her, dipping her to end the song and paso doble routine.

“From bronze to golden!” judge Carrie Ann Inaba said. “The likability factor in your routine is so amazing, and it’s because you do everything full out.”

Judge Derek Hough echoed those thoughts, complimenting the gymnast’s charm on the dance floor.

“So many things jam-packed in there. Just a few little things of kryptonite,” Hough said.

Hough and Bruno Tonioli talked about controlling Nedoroscik’s energy and finding finesse and refinement in his movements in the coming weeks.

Nedoroscik and Arnold received their scores, with an eight from Inada and sevens from Hough and Tonioli, totaling 22 points on night two to grant them 43 total points.

Arnold-Pommel finished tied for third place on the night for the second week, behind former “Bachelor” contestant and Montgomery County native Joey Graziadei.

Regarding his feelings from this week’s dance in comparison to his first, Nedoroscik highlighted all of the differences in the dances he had to learn.

“This dance was just so different,” the Penn State alum said. “I had to be serious, I had to be stiff, I had to put my hips out. Honestly, it was really fun learning it because of how different it was. So I really enjoyed this journey, and I’m proud of what I just did.”

Oscars Night was a double elimination, but Arnold-Pommel was one of the couples safe from exiting the show. Stars Anna Delvey and Tori Spelling were sent home as the first eliminations this season.

Check back next week to see how Nedoroscik and Arnold fare in week three, folks.
