Ace Baldwin Jr. Named To Preseason All-Big Ten Team

Penn State men’s basketball guard Ace Baldwin Jr. was named to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team, the conference announced Tuesday.

Baldwin was last year’s Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 2.7 steals per game, the fourth most in the nation and the highest average by a player in the conference since the 1992-93 season.

The 6’1″ guard is entering his second season with the Nittany Lions after transferring from VCU and following head coach Mike Rhoades. In three years at VCU, Baldwin averaged 10.4 points, 5.2 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. Last year at Penn State, Baldwin recorded 14.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game while shooting 32.9% from beyond the three-point arc.

Baldwin, who was also a Naismith National Defensive Player of the Year Semifinalist last season, was Penn State’s only player to receive preseason conference honors.

The Nittany Lions will open their season on Monday, November 4, at the Bryce Jordan Center against Binghamton.
