Penn State Women’s Hockey Earns Pair Of AHA Weekly Awards

Two Penn State women’s hockey players notched AHA weekly awards, the conference announced Monday. Graduate student Alyssa Machado picked up AHA Forward of the Week, and Lyndie Lobdell earned Defensive Player of the Week.

Machado led the Nittany Lions in points and goals this week as she racked up five points through three goals and two assists in the sweep against Union. She scored back-to-back goals in 14 seconds, marking the fastest back-to-back goals by the same player in program history.

This was the forward’s second AHA weekly honor of her career and the first for this season.

Lobdell marked the first Nittany Lion to be named Defensive Player of the Week this season and the fourth weekly award of her career. The graduate student picked up three points in the series against Union, adding one goal, two assists, and two blocked shots.

So far this season, she has two goals and three assists for five points.

Penn State will return to action in Happy Valley for a series against Dartmouth. The games will kick off at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 18, at Pegula Ice Arena. Saturday’s game will take place at 2 p.m. as a Pink Game for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
