Penn State Women’s Hockey Stays At No. 12 In USCHO Poll

Penn State women’s hockey remains at No. 12 in the USCHO Poll after a series sweep against Union, announced Monday. This was the fourth consecutive week the Nittany Lions were ranked No. 12.

The weekend sweep marked its first of the season as part of a strong 4-2 start. Penn State won 4-2 on Friday and 5-3 on Saturday. Forward Alyssa Machado grabbed five points on the weekend through three goals and two assists, also earning AHA Forward of the Week.

Penn State’s power plays and penalty kills were a big improvement this weekend against Union and helped secure the win alongside the goalkeeping. Goaltenders Katie DeSa and Lauren Barbo split the series as they anchored the team.

The Nittany Lions are on a three-game win streak and will work to continue it against Dartmouth in Pegula Ice Arena this weekend. The first game will take place at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 18. Game two will start at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 19.
