PennDOT Construction On Atherton Street Almost Done

Finally.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) work on Atherton Street in State College is set to wrap up by the first week of November, according to a PennDOT press release.

The 24-hour work on the road wrapped up last week. On Monday, work began on pavement marking, highway lighting, upgrading traffic signals, sidewalk work, installing park benches and trash bins, and planting roadside trees and other vegetation. PennDOT said that work will continue throughout the week.

While crews are wrapping up, there may still be some delays on Atherton Street.

PennDOT spent $30.7 million on the project, hiring HRI, Inc. of State College as its contractor. Work on the project included roadway reconstruction, drainage improvements that included pipes and inlets, water and sewer lines, concrete curbing, sidewalks and detectable warning surfaces, pavement markings, traffic signals and supports, and more.
