[Photo Story] Northern Lights Visible Above State College

Between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. last Thursday night, the northern lights appeared across the central Pennsylvania sky, creating a stunning spectacle. While they were a bit tricky to spot with the naked eye, once you whipped out your phone, those vibrant colors came alive!

The northern lights are rarely visible to people in the Keystone State, but this unique experience caught everyone’s attention, no matter where they were watching from. The brilliance of the lights made every spot feel like the perfect view, turning the night into a memorable experience for everyone hanging out.

If you missed the skylight show, our photographers roamed State College, capturing the lights from different spots.

Despite the brisk weather, lots of students bundled up and ventured outside, driving to cozy spots to soak in the breathtaking views with friends.

People headed out to find the best spots to watch the northern lights. Rooftops, parks, and wide-open spaces were the most popular places to catch the show.

Alongside the stunning lights, the night was filled with stars. It was the perfect chance to catch a glimpse of shooting stars while enjoying the vibrant colors overhead — a memorable experience for everyone.

Here’s to hoping for more nights like this in the future!
