[Photo Story] Penn State Basketball Teams Host 2024 ‘Ball At East Halls’ Event

Players and coaches from the Penn State men’s and women’s basketball teams took to the basketball court at East Halls on Tuesday night for a fun-filled night of basketball.

Along with the basketball teams, the cheerleaders, Lionettes, and Nittany Lion were a part of the fun.

Both teams ran on the court with support from students and cheerleaders. The women’s team then had the crowd come onto the court to film a TikTok with them.

Head coaches Carolyn Kieger and Mike Rhoades gave speeches to hype up the crowd. Rhoades offered the crowd $5,000 for anyone who could make a basket from half-court. Three people attempted it, and by some miracle, the last crowd member made the basket.

Once the court cleared, the competitions were set to start, with the opener being a skills competition. Selected students hit the court with the goal of making a layup, free throw, three-pointer, and half-court shot in the span of 45 seconds.

Students were joined for the skills contests by players Freddie Dilione, Ace Baldwin Jr., Moriah Murray, Tamera Johnson, Yanic Konan Neiderhauser, and Victoria Santana.

The night finished with players and students competing in knock-out.

Students competed against Dominick Stewart, Jahvin Carter, and Hudson Ward from the men’s team. From the women’s team, Cam Rust, Jill Jekot, and Shae Stelle competed.

Both teams will tip off their seasons on Monday, November 4, at the Bryce Jordan Center. The Nittany Lions will face Binghamton, while the Lady Lions will play Bucknell.
