Boycott Big Noon Kickoff: An Open Letter To Penn State Students

Folks, if there’s one thing I hate more than a hangover or a terrible exam grade, it’s a noon college football game kickoff. FOX has done us, the Penn State community, dirty several times already.

They did us dirty with West Virginia.

They did us dirty with Bowling Green.

They did us dirty with UCLA.

Our friends on the West Coast were done dirty with USC.

And, yet again, they are doing us dirty with Ohio State.

The stakes of this game are priceless. No. 4 at No. 3. Big Ten implications on the line. College Football Playoff rankings on the line. If one thing is clear it is this: this game should be a night game.

The Penn State community can come together on this. FOX has enjoyed taking the fun out of tailgating and the atmosphere Beaver Stadium presents by testing us with several noon games already. And now, on the biggest game of the year, it happens yet again. Unacceptable.

I am asking you, Penn State Students, to please boycott Big Noon Kickoff. Do not show up. Imagine Urban Meyer hyping up the “crowd.” Cue the crickets, folks. Chirp chirp.

There’d be no better response for our kickoff time getting screwed over than for their drone to span over the expected “crowd” and fans tuning in around the world, expecting a large crowd, only to see absolutely nobody. Yet again, please cue the crickets.

The only attention Big Noon Kickoff’s show should be drawing is the overheard uproar in the background when Pat McAfee awards a lucky student $100,000. Oh, and when Keegan-Michael Key announces to the world that he’s picking Penn State to beat Ohio State, too.

Boycott Big Noon Kickoff.

Thank you for your time.
