Penn State Women’s Volleyball Still No. 3 In AVCA Poll

For the sixth straight week, Penn State women’s volleyball remained at the No. 3 spot in the latest AVCA ranking released Monday afternoon.

This was the eighth week this season the Nittany Lions occupied the No. 3 spot, trailing only Pitt and Big Ten rival Nebraska. The Nittany Lions received one first-place vote alongside Pitt’s 49 votes and Nebraska’s 11.

Following its successful road trip to Los Angeles with wins over both USC and UCLA, Penn State held its ground at Rec Hall with wins over Michigan and Iowa this past week. The Nittany Lions swept Michigan in three straight sets on Wednesday and took down the Hawkeyes 3-1 on Friday. These wins kept Penn State a perfect 12-0 in conference play with eight games left in the regular season.

The Nittany Lions will head to the Midwest this weekend for road matches with Northwestern and No. 7 Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The top-10 matchup with the Badgers in Madison will be Penn State’s highest-ranked opponent since the team’s only loss of the season, which came against No. 1 Pitt, on September 18.
