Penn State Women’s Volleyball Drops To No. 4 In AVCA Poll

After spending six straight weeks at the No. 3 spot in the AVCA Poll, Penn State women’s volleyball dropped one spot to No. 4 in the latest poll released Monday. This drop followed the Nittany Lion’s loss to No. 7 Wisconsin in Madison this past Saturday.

The Nittany Lions remain behind Pitt and Big Ten foe Nebraska, as well as Lousiville, who jumped the Nittany Lions to take the No. 3 spot.

Penn State’s loss to the Badgers this past weekend is only its second of the season, with the other coming to No. 1 Pitt back in September. The loss marked the Nittany Lions’ first conference loss of the season after starting 13-0 in Big Ten play.

Penn State played competitively with Wisconsin for the first set, losing only 25-23. However, the Badgers had no issue taking care of the Nittany Lions in the last two sets, winning 25-12 and 25-13, respectively.

Penn State has six matches remaining in the regular season, four of which will come at home. The Nittany Lions are slated to face two more teams who are currently ranked in the top 25: No. 8 Purdue and No. 2 Nebraska.

The team’s next match will be against Illinois at Rec Hall on Friday, November 15 at 7 p.m. The game will serve as the program’s annual THON Match.
