State College Set To Host ‘Light Up Night’ On November 21

It’s the holiday season, folks!

To kick off the holidays in a festive fashion, State College is hosting its annual Light Up Night from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 21.

The event is set to take place on Fraser Street’s MLK Plaza and the 100 block of Allen Street in downtown State College and will feature a slate of holiday-themed activities. From family-friendly crafts, photos with Santa, a local artisan market, and live reindeer, there is sure to be something for everyone at this event.

Live performances will be interspersed throughout the evening, featuring groups such as NOTA a capella, the QuintEssential Brass Quintet, and the Greys Woods gospel singers. Participants can also take part in free trolley rides around downtown and enjoy a timed musical light show at the MLK Plaza throughout the night.

Light Up Downtown will also include free snacks and hot chocolate for attendees to enjoy. This includes a free donut and coffee stand by Duck Donuts, free grilled stickies offered outside the Corner Room, and a free hot cocoa bar inside Kish Bank.

The night will end with the grand lighting of the evergreen tree outside of the Allen Street Gates, led by Santa Claus and one lucky attendee. To be eligible for the chance to light the tree with Santa, drop off a donation to the Toys for Tots collection station by 7 p.m.
