Staff Picks: Where We Want To Be Buried Around Penn State

For many students, their love for Happy Valley runs so deep that they wouldn’t mind spending forever here. The idea may seem a bit ~grave~ but when ESPN posted to Instagram about college football fans wanting to be buried at their favorite stadiums, our staff got to thinking.

From Beaver Stadium to residential halls, Penn State offers more than a few iconic final resting spots. Here are some Penn State spots where our staffers would want to be buried.

Ally Eaton: Roots Natural Kitchen

Bury me at Roots. Roots at the funeral, Roots at the wake, and Roots at the grave. Roots has been a symbolic piece of my college career and I can’t imagine life without it. Between the atmosphere, the delicious, nutritious food, and the time with friends, I can’t think of a better place to be buried — six feet under with a Balboa.

Michael Siroty: Berkey Creamery Freezers

If I’m going down, I’d like to at least go down with some ice cream.

Collin Ward: Hintz Alumni Garden

This might be the most basic pick behind Beaver Stadium or Old Main Lawn, but this is the only correct answer. The garden is the best spot on campus to lie on the grass and look around.

With a nice view of Old Main and a duck pond, what more could you ask for? If there was somewhere on campus where I had to rest for the rest of eternity, it would be here.

Abby Neely: Brumbaugh Hall

Brumbaugh Hall was my dorm freshman year. Even though I had both good and bad experiences there and still have a lot of mixed feelings about it, that’s where my college journey started and it means a lot to me.

Without Brumbaugh, I never would have become so close with one of my best friends. Without Brumbaugh, I never would have understood the fear of a fire alarm going off mid-shower. Without Brumbaugh, I never would have been so grateful to have silence. Without Brumbaugh, I never would have realized how much I appreciate having my own space.

Yes, most of the things I think about when Brumbaugh Hall comes to mind are negative, but I wouldn’t be who I am today without the experiences I had there. To me, there is no better place to be buried. No matter how much I hated it at the time, I have come to realize that there are parts of me that wouldn’t exist without Brumbaugh Hall.

Cooper Cazares: Big Dean’s Hot Chicken

If I were to be buried in State College, I would want to be underneath the great establishment of BDHC. The restaurant easily has the best chicken in town. I’ve spent an unholy amount of money on their chicken tenders and although I’m still waiting for my sponsorship, I would happily agree to be buried at that site.

Evan Halfen: Mount Nittany

Nothing beats the best view of downtown and Penn State’s campus: Mount Nittany. Who wouldn’t want to be buried with a view?

Joe Lister: Cryogenically Freeze Me Like Walt Disney & Put Me Where The Joe Paterno Statue Used To Be

I think this speaks for itself, to be honest.
