Penn State Women’s Volleyball Rises To No. 2 In Latest AVCA Ranking

The Nittany Lions are on the rise, folks.

Penn State women’s volleyball was ranked No. 2 in the latest AVCA ranking, released on Monday. The Nittany Lions received one first-place vote, trailing only behind Pitt.

The No. 2 ranking is tied for the Nittany Lion’s highest of the season. Previously, Penn State’s highest ranking was in the week 10 poll when it was ranked second.

Penn State’s jump in the rankings came after its 3-1 upset win over No. 2 Nebraska at Rec Hall last Friday. With that win, the Nittany Lions secured a share of the Big Ten title for the first time since 2017, the first conference title of the Katie Schumacher-Cawley era.

Penn State will move on to the NCAA Tournament, earning the No. 1 seed in its region and the No. 3 seed overall. The team’s first game will be against Delaware State at Rec Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 6.
