Sophia Gladieux & Julienne Van Bekkum Named To NFHCA Mideast All-Region Team
Sophia Gladieux and Julienne van Bekkum were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Mideast All-Region Team, the team announced on Wednesday. Gladieux was named to the first team roster with graduate student van Bekkum being named to the second team.
This marks the fifth time Gladieux has earned first-team All-Region recognition and has ended her outstanding Nittany Lion career with her fifth straight first-team All-Big Ten honor.
Gladieux adds the accolade on top of her recognition as a 2024 Olympian, NFHCA Mideast Regional Player of the Year, Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, Penn State Female Athlete of the Year, and NFHCA second-team All-American. Gladieux also leaves Penn State as the school’s all-time leading goal scorer with 94 and all-time leader in points after adding 14 assists.
Van Bekkum takes home her first NFHCA All-Region award as part of this year’s second team. Van Bekkum, who also earned NFHCA National All-Academic honors, started the entire season and was a key factor in Penn State’s defense.
In her two seasons at Penn State, van Bekkum played in 33 games while starting in every contest during 2024. Van Bekkum ended her career with three goals and six assists for nine points.
