What To Do In Indianapolis For The Big Ten Championship

Party like it’s 2016, folks!

Penn State football is back in the Big Ten Championship for the first time in eight years, and the James Franklin-led team is looking to bring some hardware back to Happy Valley and clinch a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff.

For fans making the trip to Indianapolis, Indiana, there is plenty to do in the Hoosier State’s capital leading up to the big game. We’ve compiled a list of some of the best options to pass the time before kickoff in Lucas Oil Stadium.

Big Ten Fan Fest

The Big Ten Fan Fest presented by Dr. Pepper will be held at the Indiana Convention Center starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Anyone with a ticket to the game can get into the convention center for free.

The event will feature interactive games, food, drinks, special guest appearances, and more. There will be plenty of entertainment for all ages in attendance. Fan Fest band performances will start with the East Division band and cheerleaders performing at 5:15 p.m., followed by the West Division band and cheerleaders at 6 p.m.

Big Ten Tailgate Town

The Big Ten Tailgate Town starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday at 100 S. Capitol Ave. in downtown Indianapolis. The event is free to everyone and features performances throughout the day.

The tailgate is highlighted by a Major League Eating Contest of shrimp cocktails, featuring the likes of Joey Chestnut and other competitors. The contest is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. For more information, folks can look here.

B1G Penn State Takeover Alumni Mixer

The Penn State Alumni Association will host an alumni mixer from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, December 6. There will be performances by the Penn State Spirit Squad and the Nittany Lion. There will be an open bar and appetizers at the event.

Roar Tour Pep Rally

From 4 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, the Indiana Convention Center Exhibit Hall D will play host to the Roar Tour Pep Rally with doors opening at 3 p.m. Wristbands are required for admission to the pep rally and will be distributed first-come, first-served, at 11 a.m. outside Exhibit Hall D. For more information on the pep rally, click here.

Penn State Hangout At Slippery Noodle Inn

The official Penn State hangout spot is at the Slippery Noodle Inn on Friday and Saturday. There is a $10 cover charge for the event, which will have a DJ, live bands, and Penn State drink specials. Fans are encouraged to stop by from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday to pick up a Penn State shaker.
