Penn State Student Accused Of Selling Cocaine From Delta Upsilon
A Penn State student has been accused of selling drugs from the Delta Upsilon fraternity house and was reportedly arrested Friday.
Thomas Robinson, listed as a World Campus student in Penn State’s directory, faces a total of 18 felony counts ranging from manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, and criminal use of communication facility, and 10 total misdemeanor counts of intentional possession of a controlled substance by person not registered and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.
During the execution of a search warrant, according to an affidavit, police found multiple grinders with marijuana, two pills of methylphenidate hydrochloride, 220 grams of marijuana in a bag, a safe containing a Kimber .45 handgun loaded with seven bullets, 229 pills of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, $1,862 in cash, and 8.2 grams of cocaine.
According to the affidavit, a confidential informant connected with Robinson via Snapchat to organize a cocaine purchase. The informant was searched before meeting with Robinson and provided money for the purchase.
Police said that Robinson met with the informant at the Delta Upsilon house while the informant was under surveillance. The informant left the fraternity one minute after entering and immediately handed police a bag of cocaine.
In early October, the informant made another purchase of cocaine from Robinson through a police operation. Twice more in the next month, the informant made more purchases with similar procedures.
Police said they then gained contact with another source who confirmed that Robinson was selling cocaine and that they had purchased cocaine from Robinson 10 to 20 times. That informant then met with Robinson once through a police operation in December and purchased cocaine.
At no point in police operations, the affidavit said, would Robinson sell less than half an ounce of cocaine, something he told the informants during communications.
On Friday, December 13, per the affidavit, police executed a search warrant of Robinson’s residence at the Delta Upsilon house. Police found the marijuana, methylphenidate hydrochloride, Kimber .45 handgun with seven bullets inside, amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, $1,862 in cash, and cocaine. Robinson resisted the arrest and was subsequently tased. Robinson told the police officers present he thought they were his fraternity brothers playing a prank on him as they escorted him out of his room in handcuffs.
Robinson posted bail of $150,000 on Friday, December 13. He’s set for a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18.
