Penn State Men’s Hockey Unveils Frozen Confines Series Jerseys
Penn State men’s hockey will sport a new Frozen Confines jersey for its matchup against Notre Dame on Friday, January 3, the team announced Friday.
The new sweater was unveiled ahead of the Nittany Lions conference clash against the Fighting Irish at Wrigley Field.
The sweaters are a nod to Wrigley Field’s main resident, the Chicago Cubs, alongside Penn State’s baseball team. The sweaters will feature subtle baseball-themed touches with a Hockey Valley spin in order to embrace one of the most iconic teams and venues in Major League Baseball.
The navy jerseys feature an angled script “Nittany Lions” crest across the chest with front player numbering on the jersey’s belly in order to mimic Penn State baseball’s alternate blue jerseys. The arched nameplates, lettering, and numbers are also exemplified in the Cubs jersey font with senior Simon Mack’s captain ‘C’ represented with the Cubs ‘C’. They will also feature subtle ivy leaves as a nod to the ivy walls present at Wrigley Field.
The jerseys will also be worn with navy helmets featuring a raised, script “Penn State” sticker on each side along with brown leather gloves and pants similar to the throwback alternate uniforms.
Penn State takes on Notre Dame in a Big Ten conference clash at 8:30 p.m. Friday, January 3.
