[Photo Story] Penn State Football’s 2024 Fiesta Bowl Media Day

The Fiesta Bowl is almost here, folks.

Penn State’s College Football Playoff quarterfinal matchup against Boise State kicks off in just two days. The Nittany Lions arrived in Phoenix, Arizona, on Sunday night and, after adjusting to the time change and getting some sleep, met with members of the press at Sunday’s Fiesta Bowl media day.

Those of us from Onward State who were fortunate enough to get to come to Arizona were at the event to capture all the action. Let’s take a look at some of our photos.

Before the players and coaches arrived, each station was set up with name plates and water for everyone.

The Fiesta Bowl trophy was on display, reminding the team what they were playing for. Previous Penn State teams that won the Fiesta Bowl are etched into the trophy.

The Nittany Lions arrived by bus to the cheers of some Penn State fans who had gathered to see the team.

First up to speak was James Franklin, who talked about the changing landscape of college football and how it has affected bowl season. Franklin even endorsed legendary Alabama head coach Nick Saban to take on a role as college football’s commissioner.

Franklin and the team were joined by Spirit, the Fiesta Bowl mascot.

After Franklin’s Q&A session, players and coaches from Penn State were made available for questions from the media.

Some of the Nittany Lions were briefly pulled to make appearances on Big Ten Network’s live broadcast.

The Fiesta Bowl team provided Penn State players with board games like Uno, Connect Four, and Jenga to pass the time in case they weren’t getting asked any questions.

By the end of the media availability, players started to have some fun by asking each other questions.
