Beaver Stadium Press Box Set For January 4 Public Demolition

Farewell, old friend.

Beaver Stadium’s press box is set for a public demolition at around 8 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, Penn State Athletics announced Tuesday. Folks can watch the event Stadium West parking lot.

Parking to watch the event will be available in the Yellow H Shields lot, the Orange A lot at the Katz Building, and the Eisenhower Parking Deck, using ParkMobile or HONK for $1 per hour. Folks can also use the East Parking Deck at $2 for the first hour and $1 per hour for additional time. No parking will be available in Jordan East, Stadium West, and Porter North.

Folks can purchase coffee, hot chocolate, breakfast sandwiches, and breakfast, though all transactions will be via credit card only. Additionally, the event will feature a DJ, the opportunity to sign a bleacher from the upper west side, and a drawing to win signed construction hats by the Penn State head coaches

The demolition of the press box is the start of the Beaver Stadium Revitalization Project, which will run a bill of up to $700 million. The press box was first constructed with New Beaver Field and then moved to Beaver Stadium in 1959. The press box was expanded to its current configuration in 1980.

Penn State has searched to raise funds for the renovations via donations. Thus far, the university has raised several donations of seven and eight figures.
