Penn State Lacrosse Teams Land Three On Tewaaraton Award Watch List

Penn State lacrosse standouts on both the men’s and women’s teams were named to the first Tewaaraton Award watch list of 2025. Jack Fracyon, Matt Traynor, and Ellie Hollin represented their respective programs as some of the nation’s best players.

Fracyon makes the list for the men following his second consecutive season as the Big Ten Specialist of the Year in 2024. The senior held teams to under 10 goals in 11 games last season, recording 209 saves and 57.1% save percentage, the highest in the Big Ten.

Fracyon started 2025 with 14 saves against Colgate, only allowing nine goals in the season opener.

Traynor was also named to the list on the men’s side. The senior scored 45 goals in 2024 while dishing out seven assists. In 2025 he has full control of the Penn State offense and looked stellar in his first game as the team’s quarterback.

Traynor tied his career high with seven points on five goals and two assists. The attackman will have to continue that pace though, if he wants to remain in Tewaaraton consideration at the end of the season.

For the women’s team, Hollin is the sole player to make the list. The senior defender has a lot of hype to live up to this season. Hollin’s has also made numerous pre-season All-American lists, including USA Lacrosse Magazine’s.

In the 2024 season, Hollins had 21 ground balls with 21 caused turnovers. She will look to continue her stalwart defending in 2025, while also helping in the transition game.

While no Penn State player has won the award since its inception in 2001, Candace Finn Rocha did win the Legends version of the award in 2016. The Legends Award is given to one former player who played before 2001, but would have received the award had it been around.

Both men’s and women’s teams play this weekend. The women’s team will face off against Richmond in Holuba Hall at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 8. The men will take the short trip to Villanova, where they will face the Wildcats at noon on Sunday, February 9.
