Penn State Thespian Society’s MasquerAIDS Benefit Concert To Return February 16

The Penn State Thespian Society will hold its annual MasquerAIDS (MAIDS) charity concert at 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, in Flex Theater in the HUB. This year’s theme is “Journeys of Life” and will feature a wide range of performances and styles.

The club has performed this concert in partnership with Centre County AIDs Resource since 2002, with upward of 50 students working together to put on an elaborate show while raising funds and awareness for HIV and AIDs.

MasquerAIDS isn’t your average show. The thespians put their wide-ranging talents on display with tap dances, solo acts, ballet performances, and big musical numbers, offering a smorgasbord of different musical styles.

“I think it’s really prevalent today. It’s more about the journey than the destination,” MAIDS Director Elena Bishop said.

MAIDS is an opportunity for club members to branch out and try new things, separating it from their typical shows. Many crew members get a chance to perform when they normally wouldn’t, and everyone who auditions is cast in at least one part. In other words, anyone who wants to help make a difference by performing gets a platform to do just that.

Tickets are $5 and can be found here.
