[Photo Story] A Sneak Peek Inside The Hideaway, State College’s Newest Speakeasy & Bar

There’s a new bar in town, folks.

The Hideaway Electric Speakeasy is nearing completion and tentatively plans to open on February 22 in the former location of Jax Bar & Kitchen. While construction and decorations aren’t fully complete yet, the folks over at the Hideaway gave Onward State a peek inside to showcase what State College’s newest bar has to offer.

Once open, the bar will almost certainly be the most unique nighttime venue in State College. The Hideaway will have a $20 cover every night for those entering the speakeasy from Calder Way after 9 p.m. However, that cover will be reduced to $10 for those who dress up nicely and won’t apply to those entering for dinner from College Avenue before 9 p.m. The decor is bright, colorful, and eccentric, and the bar will offer several unique cocktails.

Let’s take a peek inside to see what townies and students alike have to look forward to.

The entrance off of College Avenue features several messages as guests walk down a colorfully painted stairwell into the bar.

Once at the bottom of the stairs, customers will be in one of two rooms with a bar. This bar is long with comfortable plush seats and color-changing LED lights overhead.

Moving through a curtain into the larger room, you’ll immediately notice the hundreds of fairy lights adorning the ceiling. The bar in this room features several unique, staple decor pieces.

This space is filled with artwork, neon signs, and more. Near the back entrance, which exits to Calder Way, sits a stand for a DJ and live music space.
