What To Do On The BJC’s Jumbotron At THON 2025

One of the most exciting parts about THON, aside from the performances, is looking for yourself on the jumbotron. With thousands of people packed into the BJC, catching a glimpse of yourself on the big screen is a cause for excitement.

While the odds of making an appearance on the video board are high, many are left clueless when met with their moment of fame. Here are some suggestions for what you should do when the camera points your way.

Chug Your Water

Chugging a ~ non-FToK ~ beverage is a common occurrence on the big screen at sporting events. Since THON encourages hydration, what better way to make your presence known than by downing a bottle of H2O on the jumbotron? It would get the crowd going while being beneficial to your own well-being. Who knows, maybe others will be inclined to join in. Remember to take water breaks, folks.

Five Big Booms

The Costco guys have taken over social media and are widely known for their “Boom Meter” ranking system. In fact, the line dance even makes mention of them in the pop culture verse. When the dancer relations captains say the words “Costco guys, bring the boom,” the BJC absolutely erupts. Giving the camera a five-boom salute is a must if you ever find yourself in such a position to do so.

Overdramatic Lip Syncing

If a banger of a song is on when the camera pans to you, you can belt it if you choose. You could sing like your life depends on it. Or, you could do something even better: lip sync. I have found that excessive, over-the-top mouthing of the words leads to a more dramatic performance. Thus, a better show for the jumbotron. So, pretend you’re Mariah Carey on New Year’s Eve and give it your best shot.

Diamonds Up

Four Diamonds is why THON even exists. So let’s pay homage to a great organization and put a diamond in the air For The Kids. We’re all in this together.

Air Guitar

Air drums work as well, or even the piano. Just pick your favorite instrument and start jamming.

Pretend like you’re on stage making your big debut. Who knows, maybe someone will see you on the big screen and make you the national act next year. Grab an air pick, your favorite six-string, and play your heart out.

Go Crazy

Let loose. Whether you’re by yourself or with an organization, start screaming and flailing your arms. It’s contagious. If you show the crowd some enthusiasm, they will give it right back. And, the dancers will appreciate it as well. It’s an endless cycle of pure energy.
