While You Were Asleep: What Happened Overnight At THON 2025

If you were one of the many who had the energy to stay the entire night during the second overnight of THON 2025, we can’t help but admire your endurance. However, if the Pep Rally and Donny Burns & The 3rd Degree made you want to get some rest before Final Four, we can’t blame you.
For those who weren’t at the Bryce Jordan Center in the early hours of Sunday morning, here’s what you missed.
Velveeta Performance
The night started off with a performance by State College’s very own party band, Velveeta. It performed classic 80s hits like “Jump” by Van Halen, “What I Like About You” by The Romantics, and many other classics. This performance lasted for an hour and completely rocked the Bryce Jordan Center as everyone sang their hearts out.
Stretch Break
After this performance and engaging the dancers in garbage games, a much-needed stretch break occurred. Representatives from THON lead these exercises for two minutes. Even though there hadn’t been much action before this, it was needed as we enter the stretch run.
Where’s Waldo?
At 4 a.m., the people on the stage started playing Where’s Waldo, who apparently was in the arena. However, this search lasted for only a minute as he was found very quickly. After a 20-minute break, dancer relations captains went back to the stage, and we went to our hourly-scheduled line dance.
Adam & The Armadillos
Adam and the Armadillos returned to THON for the third consecutive year. As always, they put on an incredible show and the BJC was booming. The crowd cheered the band during classics like “Chicken Fried,” “Revival,” and many other songs. They played till 5:40 a.m., but the group was so beloved it was demanded to perform an encore and finished with “I Go Back” by Kenney Chesney. Don’t be surprised if they make it four in a row in THON 2026.
Hydration Break & Line Dances
The THON hydration crew held a hydration break and tried to get the crowd to drink as much water as possible. After that, we had two line dances in less than an hour. With it being 6 a.m., these two consecutive dances were a huge booster of energy.
Whiplash Dance Team, Ella Seebacher, & Nick Plank
The Whiplash Dance Team took the stage to show off their killer dancing moves and black fedoras. Along with these skills, they used a good music set that got the crowd going. Right after them, Ella Seebacher and Nick Plank who represent the Penn State Alliance took the stage as well. They rocked the crowd with great guitar playing and a great voice.
A Cappella Portion & Color Wars
Around 6:30 a.m., we reached the a cappella portion of this year’s entertainment. It all started with Blue In The Face showing its unique dance skills along with great music. Right after, we found that purple was the winner of this year’s Color Wars. Then, Rince Na Leon, Caliente, and Penn State Lyrical Line delivered. Lastly, Savoir Faire took the stage and delivered a great performance by singing, “I Need A Hero” to cap off the wee hours of Sunday morning.
