McSorley came to Penn State in 2014 and redshirted his first year in the blue and white. The Ashburn, Virginia, native appeared in seven games in 2015 and was one of 17 redshirt freshmen to see action that season.

The quarterback became the starter in 2016 and led Penn State to a Big Ten Championship over Wisconsin but eventually lost to USC in the Rose Bowl.

After leading Penn State to a Fiesta Bowl win in 2017 and a Citrus Bowl appearance in 2018 before being drafted at No. 197 by the Baltimore Ravens in 2019. He appeared in three games over the course of two seasons with the Ravens, finishing with 90 yards and a touchdown through the air.

McSorley signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2021 and played in six games during the 2022 season, including a start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Christmas Day.

From there, McSorley was waived by the Cardinals and signed to the Patriots, Bears, Steelers, and Commanders practice squads before going unsigned.
