This Just Isn’t Cutting It: An Open Letter Asking To Renovate The Bryce Jordan Center Bathrooms

Most of the time they’re avoidable, but not during THON.
The Bryce Jordan Center bathrooms have always been terrible, but this becomes incredibly apparent during high-traffic times such as THON when you are forced to encounter such disasters at some point during the 46-hour event.
Not only are the facilities clogged half the time, but using the sinks is impossible without somehow soaking your entire shirt from high water pressure. While there are well over 30 stalls in each of the four bathrooms located at each corner of the concourse in the BJC, it still doesn’t feel like enough.
“Well, what do you want them to do? Do you want them to destroy all the bathrooms in the BJC?” You may be asking yourself, and to that, I say, yes, 1000%.
Aside from all of the shortcomings of the BJC bathrooms, the most apparent has to be the lack of privacy when you’re, well, doing your business. While I’ll never seem to understand why most American restrooms have big openings on the side and bottom of the stall, the BJC stalls take the cake for the most intrusive bathroom experience.
After spending 35 hours in the BJC myself, I started to notice how each bathroom had the same issue. No matter where I sat or what time I went, it was always possible to see someone staring into the stall due to the large space and gaps in the bathroom door.
So, I beg, please replace or renovate the bathrooms of the BJC, or find some way to make it less awkward to practically see the people waiting in line while I’m trying to go to the bathroom. While Beaver Stadium still has gaps in its doors, it’s still nowhere near as invasive as the BJC bathrooms. Maybe this was just a problem in the women’s restroom, but even so, it’s uncomfortable and needs to be changed.
