Check Out Onward State On SpotlightNews

Onward State has a new home, folks!

Beginning Thursday, February 27, Onward State is available on SpotlightNews, a news aggregation app geared toward college-aged readers but open to all those interested in staying up-to-date on what’s happening in their communities.

By joining SpotlightNews, Onward State can reach a wide audience on a reader-friendly platform. Working with SpotlightNews makes us more mobile-friendly and always accessible with a few taps and swipes whenever you want to get your latest Penn State news.

We’ll appear alongside the Philadelphia Inquirer, Reuters, Sports Illustrated, The Players’ Tribune, ProPublica, StateCollege.com, Penn State students who are not good at flag football, and others.

Here’s how to follow Onward State on SpotlightNews.

  1. Download the SpotlightNews app, available for iPhone and Android smartphones.
  2. Create your SpotlightNews account.
  3. Subscribe to Onward State — it’s free!
  4. Read Onward State. All the time. All you should be doing is reading Onward State. Nothing else matters.

It’s important to note that this does not mean that Onward State is moving away from its original Onward State app, which is having some issues appearing in the iPhone App Store. We’ll still publish all our posts there, this is just another medium to connect with the community.

We’re incredibly excited about this partnership and look forward to working with SpotlightNews in the future.

Joe Lister

Joe, shockingly, was Onward State's managing editor from 2024-25. It was an honor. He's off employed doing journalism things, hopefully. If you want to complain about anything he's ever written, you can find him on Twitter (iamjoelister), email ([email protected]), or Signal (iamjoelister.93).
