Penn State Men’s Hockey Remains At No. 15 In USCHO Poll Before Big Ten Tournament

Penn State men’s hockey remained at No. 15 in the USCHO Poll after its split against then-No. 2 Minnesota to end the regular season.

The Nittany Lions hosted the Golden Gophers to close out their 2024-25 season. The first game went to Penn State in overtime when Simon Mack shot past former Penn State goaltender Liam Souliere to secure a 4-3 win.

The second game was close until Minnesota pulled away late in the third period to win 5-3. Notable goals came from Matt DiMarsico, Charlie Cerrato, and Mack. The Gophers hit the empty net with 20 seconds left to put the game on ice.

Before the loss on Saturday, the team hadn’t lost in the month of February. Penn State had swept Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and now-No. 2 Michigan State, which put it in a good position for the Big Ten Tournament.

Penn State travels to face the No. 11 Michigan at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 7, to start the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals.
