Aiden Fink Named Top-10 Finalist For Hobey Baker Award

Penn State men’s hockey’s Aiden Fink has been named a top-10 finalist for the 2025 Hobey Baker Memorial Award. Fink’s nomination was announced during on the NHL Network on Wednesday.

The sophomore forward is the first Nittany Lion to be a finalist for the award, which is given to the nation’s top Division I men’s ice hockey player.

Fink recently became the first player since 2020 to earn First-Team All-Conference honors in the Big Ten, and the first in program history to achieve such via unanimous selection.

This season, Fink sits at the top of the Big Ten with 52 points, making him the Penn State single-season record holder.

As the leader of the Big Ten, his 29 assists are the most by a Penn State player in a single season and puts him at sixth nationally. He is also tied for the top spot in single-season goals with 23, where his total ranks him second in the conference and sixth nationally.

The forward continues to lead the team with eight power-play tallies and two shorthanded goals. The man-advantage stats not only tied the Penn State single-season record he set himself last year but also rank him in the top 10 nationally.

Since coming to Penn State from Calgary, Alberta, Fink is just the third Nittany Lion to reach 40 points and 20 assists in a single season. He’s the program’s only player, and the seventh-all-time, to jumpstart his career with consecutive 30+ point seasons. In his rookie season, the sophomore collected 34.

The voting process for phase two is open now until March 30 and fans can vote once per day. This year, the fan count from each phase will make up one percent of the total ballot.

The final three nominees, better known as the “Hobey Hat Trick” will be revealed on April 3. The 2025 Memorial Hobey Baker Award recipient will be announced at the 2025 Frozen Four in St. Louis, Missouri, on April 12.
