Penn State Announces WiFi Network Changes

In the coming months, Penn State will change which WiFi networks folks use, the university announced Thursday. The “psu” network will be replaced by the “eduroam” network that already exists, while the university will also introduce a “psu-personal” network.

The existing “psu” and “roomgear” WiFi network will retire on June 30. Between April 1 and June 30, folks are encouraged to take steps to comment to “eduroam” and “psu-personal.”

All devices, including computers, tablets, and smartphones, must connect to “eduroam” and reconfigure to support the new authentication method. Folks can visit wireless.psu.edu for setup instructions.

If devices such as TVs, game consoles, and smart speakers can’t connect to “eduroam,” they can move to the new “psu-personal” network.

The “psu-personal” WiFi will also serve as a supplemental network for any devices that don’t support “eduroam.” All devices connection to the “roomgear” network will automatically work with “psu-personal.”

Folks with questions about setup can contact the IT service desk at 814-865-4357 or [email protected].
