Penn State Wrestling Clinches 2025 National Championship Team Title

Penn State wrestling has once again etched its name in the history books.

Cael Sanderson and his team clinched the national championship title on Saturday morning in session V of the NCAA Championships. This is the Nittany Lions 12th national championship title in 14 seasons.

Penn State had three wrestlers advance to the finals and seven compete for third place. All 10 Penn State wrestlers earned All-American honors, making the Nittany Lions the second team in NCAA history to do so. They were also the first team to go 20-0 on the first day of the national tournament. Going into the final day of the tournament, no Penn Stater could place lower than sixth in their respective weight class.

The Nittany Lions secured the title in with Shayne Van Ness’ pin in the consolation bracket to propel them to another team title. With 144.5 points, Penn State leaves second-place Nebraska trailing with 101.5 points.

Penn State will hope to break its overall team score record of 172.5 points, which it set at last year’s NCAA Championships.

Fans can stream the final matches on ESPNU and ESPN+ as the Nittany Lions continue to keep the dynasty alive.
