Report: Lady Lions Guard Moriah Murray Enters Transfer Portal

Penn State women’s basketball guard Moriah Murray has reportedly entered the transfer portal, according to On3’s Talia Goodman. Murray joined Talayah Walker, Alli CampbellGrace Hall, and Gracie Merkle as Penn State players hitting the portal.

The standout junior started her collegiate career at Drexel but transferred to Penn State before ever suiting up for the Dragons. Murray sat out the remainder of her freshman year with the Lady Lions but quickly solidified herself as a threat from beyond the arc in her sophomore and junior seasons.

Murray played in all 35 of Penn State’s games in her 2023-24 sophomore season, despite not starting a single one. She notched 10 points with five assists, three rebounds, three steals, and a block in her Lady Lions debut in a win over Bucknell. On the season, Murray averaged 4.3 points per game while shooting 35.3% from deep on 12.5 minutes a night.

Following a mass exodus from the Lady Lions squad after the 2023-24 season, Murray stepped up as one of the team’s leaders for her junior season.

Murray took a step forward in all facets of her game in 2024-25. She started 27 games for the Lady Lions, averaging 10.4 points per game while sinking 71 three-pointers on 37.8% shooting from deep. She also bumped up her production in rebounds and assists, averaging 2.4 and 2.7, respectively.

The junior scored a season-high 28 points in the season-opening win over Bucknell in November. Murray lit up Michigan State from deep with eight triples in January’s loss to the Spartans.

Carolyn Kieger reiterated throughout the 2024-25 season that Murray’s three-point shooting was essential to the Lady Lions’ success, wanting her to shoot as many times as she could per game. Murray will enter the transfer portal as an intriguing deep threat for programs looking to bolster their presence from beyond the arc.
