Jalen Kimber & Kobe King Shine At Penn State Football’s 2025 Pro Day

Twelve Penn State football players made their way to Holuba Hall for the program’s 2025 Pro Day, focusing on showcasing their talent once more heading into the final weeks of preparation for the NFL Draft.

A plethora of NFL scouts were in attendance, checking out the best players Penn State has to offer in 2025. While projected first round picks Abdul Carter and Tyler Warren didn’t work out on Friday morning, they still made brief appearances and spoke with the media.

Here’s what we saw from all twelve Nittany Lion NFL prospects on their Pro Day.

Participants

  • Abdul Carter, defensive end (did not work out)
  • Alex Felkins, kicker
  • Julian Fleming, wide receiver
  • Coziah Izzard, defensive tckle
  • Dvon J-Thomas, defensive tackle
  • Jalen Kimber, cornerback
  • Kobe King, linebacker
  • Jaylen Reed, safety
  • Amin Vanover, defensive end
  • Tyler Warren, tight end (did not work out)
  • KJ Winston, safety
  • Sal Wormley, offensive line

The participants started the day in the Lasch Building, where they were measured before doing the bench press and vertical jump.

Bench Press

King benched 26 reps for the highest of the day. His 26 reps would have tied him for the most among linebackers at the NFL Combine. King played four seasons in the blue and white and secured an All-Big Ten second-team selection in 2024.

Vertical Jump

Kimber impressed with a 33.5-inch vertical jump to start his day. Kimber didn’t receive an invite to the NFL Combine in February.

Broad Jump

Kimber and Fleming tied for the longest distance on the day in the broad jump at 10’3″. King jumped 9’10”, while defensive end Amin Vanover jumped 9’6″.

40-Yard Dash

Kimber continued his impressive day with a 4.39 unofficial time, according to James Franklin’s finger signage from midfield. He ran 4.39 on both of his runs. The 40 was also Winston’s sole workout of the day after missing the majority of the season with an ACL injury. The safety clocked a 4.50 on his second attempt.

Short Shuttle

Fleming struggled with the short shuttle. He tripped over on his second attempt without completing the drill. Times were not announced, but Wormley, J-Thomas, Izzard, Vanover, King, and Kimber all participated.

Three-Cone

Times were also not announced for the three-cone drill, but King, Fleming, Kimber, and J-Thomas all took a shot at the drill. It wrapped up the day’s workouts before transitioning to individual position drills.

Individual Player Workouts

After separating into position groups for personal workouts led by NFL representatives, Fleming took the field first to catch balls from Drew Allar.

Fleming and Allar started off with some routine comebacks and out routes before flipping the field to showcase some deep slants and crossing routes.

The duo then moved into some play-action simulation before connecting on a series of deep balls to close out Fleming’s workout.

The next group to take the field were the offensive and defensive linemen. The group started off with some basic footwork and running drills before team trainers brought out dummies for them to hit and do agility drills with. J-Thomas and Vanover were led by a Las Vegas Raiders representative in the drills.

The final groups to take the field were linebackers and defensive backs, which included King, Kimber, and Reed.

Kimber and Reed started off by reeling in some deep balls from new Penn State assistant quarterbacks coach Trace McSorley as King watched. NFL representatives then led Kimber and Reed in redirection drills while King started off with some footwork drills.

The trio then all worked on similar footwork and redirection drills with step-over dummies to close out their session.

King reinforced why he chose to enter the NFL Draft instead of returning to Penn State for another year.

“It was kind of always like, in my gut,” King said. “I always felt like, man, I’m ready to be a pro. I’m ready for the next level. I can do it. I can be one of the best linebackers at the next nevel.”

Felkins wrapped up individual workouts with kicking drills from close and far range.

Notable Guests

Miami Dolphins edge rusher Chop Robinson and Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth were both in attendance for Penn State’s Pro Day.

Robinson was drafted by the Dolphins last April, while Freiermuth will enter his fifth NFL season in 2025.

Drew Rosenhaus, Carter’s agent, was also in attendance early on and for Carter’s short media availability. Rosenhaus has represented the likes of Tyreek Hill, Rob Gronkowski, and LeSean McCoy.

What’s Next?

The twelve former Nittany Lions will hope to hear their names called during the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The draft will run from Thursday, April 24, to Saturday, April 26, and will be broadcast on ESPN, NFL Network, NFL+, ESPN2, and ESPN Deportes.
