Brainstorming Jimmy Fallon-Esque Penn State Thank Yous

If you’ve seen Jimmy Fallon, you know the late-night talk show host has a recurring segment where he writes satirical thank-you cards to everyone, from politicians to weighted blankets. Fallon has thanked almost everyone, whether justifiable or not.

So, this got us thinking. What are some Penn State things that we could give thanks for, even if not everyone loves them? From West Hall cookies to Beaver Stadium, we’ve compiled a list of the most notable and important parts of Penn State that deserve their fair share of recognition.

East Hall Dining

Thank you, East Hall Dining, for providing the perfect place to wine and dine your freshman date with your level three meal plan. With a cozy atmosphere on the bottom floor to the Flipps counter, you serve the unsung heroes: broke freshman boys.

The Bryce Jordan Center

Thank you, BJC, for providing us a place to cry for amazing events like THON and not-so-great events such as Penn State basketball. A lot goes down in the BJC, some things good and some bad, but alas, you remain an important part of Penn State’s culture.

The Pollock Testing Center

Thank you, Pollock Testing Center, for giving those who haven’t been to the DMV the experience of anxiety, stress, and fear all at once. Why go for a run to raise your heart rate when you can get the same experience from the three ladies behind the counter at the PTC?

Berkey Creamery

Thank you, Berkey Creamery, for giving me 30 minutes of pure bliss before my stomach starts churning from whatever it is that you put in your ice cream. Your portion sizes are about the size of a 2-year-old child, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Beaver Stadium

Thank you, Beaver Stadium, for raising all of Happy Valley’s blood pressure and heart rates every Saturday in the fall. You’ve struck fear and happiness into the hearts of every Penn State student, but I never want to visit when Ohio State is visiting ever again.

Pollock Dorms

Thank you, Pollock Dorms, for the mold infestation in almost all of your closets that has given its residents a charming cough for eight months. You also taught me a valuable lesson: It can only go up from here!

Doggies Pizza

Thank you, Doggies Pizza, for saving me from blacking out every weekend with your sweet and tangy sauce that brings me back to life. Your two-for-$3 happy hour specials save my stomach and wallet.

Penn State Wrestling & Carter Starocci

Thank you, Penn State wrestling, for not breaking our hearts like our football team and for making us national champions for the past four years.
