[Photo Story] SASA’s 2025 Holi Celebration

On Friday evening, HUB Lawn was nothing short of radiant as Penn State’s South Asian Student Association (SASA) hosted its annual Holi celebration. Holi is the Hindu festival of colors, which is meant to celebrate spring’s arrival and good’s triumph over evil.

This celebration involved food, music, and throwing vibrantly colored powders, which led to many breathtaking moments captured by our photographers.

A dunk tank, bouncy houses, caricatures, and more were organized across the lawn’s “color-free zone,” on the lower half. Many participants enjoyed refreshments provided by Rita’s and Poppi as the highly anticipated powder throwing approached.

As the festivities began, a colorful haze formed over HUB Lawn, giving the area a thematic atmosphere.

Many posed for photos in their collection of hues.

While the powders were replenished throughout the evening, many guests turned their attention to the stage as the sun set.

Musical guests included DJ Amir, Rishi, Sarasota, Brown Boy Beezy, Shivish Entertainment, Little Blue and The Stargazers, The Sunday Love Club, and Prahb.

Brown Boy Beezy shared anecdotes from his time as a Penn State student, shouting out those who live in East Halls and Park Hill Apartments. Before performing a number on stage with current students, the artist spoke on his gratitude to be involved, calling it a “full-circle moment.”

As the sky grew dark and the celebration came to a close, the hosting members of SASA’s enthusiasm remained bright.

Happy Holi, Penn State!
