Where Do Nittany Lions Land In Final Pre-NFL Draft Mocks?

Folks, the NFL Draft is finally here. With pre-draft meetings wrapped and teams finalizing their boards, hundreds of collegiate prospects are just hours away from finding new homes.

As the draft gets set to kick off Thursday night in Green Bay, let’s dive into the final mock drafts to see where the draft-eligible Nittany Lions are projected to land.

Peter Schrager (ESPN)

In his lone mock draft of the offseason, Peter Schrager projects two Nittany Lions to be selected within the top 10 picks. He has edge rusher Abdul Carter going No. 3 overall to the New York Giants.

“In the end, the Giants passed on Micah Parsons in 2021, instead trading down and taking wide receiver Kadarius Toney. I can’t see them passing on another star pass rusher from Penn State,” Schrager said.

Just four picks later, Schrager slots tight end Tyler Warren to the New York Jets at No. 7 overall.

“I’ve been hearing Warren to the Jets for a few weeks. This might seem early for a tight end, but in this draft, teams should just take their guy where they can get him,” he said.

Charles Davis (NFL Network)

Just as Schrager, Charles Davis has Carter to the Giants and Warren to the Jets.

“After weighing their options, the Giants take an elite edge rusher to pump up the defense,” Davis said.

“The Jets had a chance to draft TE Brock Bowers last year but passed on him before he landed with the Raiders and ultimately earned first-team All-Pro honors as a rookie,” Davis said on Warren. “New York’s new brain trust doesn’t miss the opportunity to land a potential star tight end this time around, and new QB1 Justin Fields is thrilled.”

It’s worth noting that Warren would join his former teammate, Olu Fashanu, in New York.

Cris Collinsworth (Pro Football Focus)

In his latest first-round mock draft, Cris Collinsworth continues the trend of linking Abdul Carter to the New York Giants at No. 3 overall.

“I love Abdul Carter, and he’d be the obvious choice here because he’s a phenomenal player — and you don’t pass on phenomenal players,” Collinsworth said.

However, Collinsworth breaks from the consensus on Tyler Warren, projecting the tight end to land outside the top 10. He has the 2024 Mackey Award winner heading to the Indianapolis Colts at No. 14.

“Tyler Warren can play fullback, line up in-line, and make plays down the field. He even played Wildcat quarterback! This would be a fun pick if he made it that far,” Collinsworth said.

Mike Renner (CBS Sports)

Mike Renner also sticks with the Carter-to-the-Giants narrative in his latest three-round mock draft for CBS Sports, projecting the Penn State pass rusher at No. 3 overall.

“You just don’t pass on this type of talent, even with a crowded edge room. The Giants know full well — within their own division — what a deep rotation of capable rushers can do for a defense,” Renner said.

As for Warren, Renner sends him to the Chicago Bears as a weapon for quarterback Caleb Williams.

“Warren is a mismatch threat in the Bears’ offense who could pair with Cole Kmet in Ben Johnson’s signature two-tight-end sets. His ability to win underneath from the slot would make him Caleb Williams’ best friend,” Renner said.

Renner did not include safety KJ Winston in his first 100 picks.
